What is a Skin–Refining Peel?

Skin Refining or Chemical peels are a category of advanced clinical skin rejuvenation treatments that aid in reversing damaged skin due to factors such as aging, sun exposure and acne.

Who are candidates for Chemical Peels?

Clients who have facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation are candidates.

What are the types of Chemical Peels?

There are a variety of Chemical Peels solutions ranging in intensity and for different purposes. Different peel solutions can be used within a series to obtain the results you desire. A Retinol booster can be added to any peel for additional anti-aging effect.

Glycolic Retexturing Peel
Professional strength Glycolic peel rapidly exfoliates dead surface cells revealing smoother, brighter–looking skin. Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) peels may be used for treating fine lines, areas of dryness and pigmentation problems. The peels’ ingredients originate from a pharmaceutical grade glycolic acid.

Lactic/BHA Brightening Peel
A highly effective professional exfoliation treatment to dramatically improve clarity and texture while it reduces free radical stress. Diminishes appearance of fine lines, helps visibly lighten pigment and reveals silky smooth, more radiant skin. The peels’ ingredients originate from lactic and fruit acids and vitamin C.

Salicylic Beta Peel
This peel is very effective on problematic, acne skin. Using professional at home products will improve the skins appearance.

Ferulic Acid Fruit Peel
This is the mildest form of Chemical Peels. It will visibly smooth fine lines, hydrate and alleviate the appearance of hyper-pigmentation. Excellent for dry/mature skin, for those who are too sensitive for glycolic treatments, for those who are new to peels or for those who have reached a plateau with other forms of peels.

How many treatments are required?

A series of six peels are recommended over 10 to 14 days depending on skin type. Then maintenance peels will be discussed on an individual basis. A complimentary consultation is suggested.

Are Chemical Peels safe?

Chemical Peels are safe.  You should discontinue using acne medications, glycolic acid, skin lighteners and topical vitamin A products a few days before your peel.

Will there be any downtime?

There is no downtime with AHA Glycolic or Lactic Acid Chemical Peels. You should not expect much visible peeling. Dead skin cells actually dissolve during the procedure. Though minor dryness and mild flaking can follow this procedure. The typical client feels mild itching and stinging while the product is on the skin. Wearing a sunscreen is mandatory following a peel.

What are the results of Skin–Refining Peels?

The results from these Skin Refining Chemical Peels vary based on the condition of your skin when you started. However you should feel a change in texture, minimizing the appearance of pore size, fine lines and hyper pigmentation. You will detect a natural, healthy glow to your skin, and with multiple treatments, even better results can be seen.

Who should avoid Chemical Peels?

Clients with cold sores or sensitive skin may be at a greater risk for post–treatment complications.
