Reiki (ray–key)

Reiki means universal life energy and is a Japanese technique for relaxation that also promotes healing. It's done through touch and works simultaneously on emotional, mental, physical and spiritual "levels" and does not have any limitations. Reiki is a safe, gentle, noninvasive form of hands–on healing that increases energy, reduces pain, and produces deep relaxation and a general feeling of well–being. You remain fully clothed for this therapy.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

What does the word Reiki mean?
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

How often should I get a Reiki treatment?
As often as you feel like you need it.  It is important for you to listen to your own body.  Everyone has individual needs.  The reiki energy will most likely make you feel more connected to your body and more in-tune.  You will know when you need another session.  If you are going through a high period of stress or going through a major medical situation i.e. chemotherapy or radiation or recovering from surgery etc. it has been my experience that 3 consecutive reiki sessions will really increase the healing process.  But it is always an individual’s decision and experience.

How long is a typical session?
The typical session is one hour.  The time always seems to pass in just the right amount of time.  If you are interested in a longer or shorter session for whatever the reasons, please don’t hesitate to ask.  Reiki is fluid and  each session will be designed to treat the needs of each client.

As a Reiki practitoner do you get drained offering Reiki?
No, Reiki is not draining it is filling up.  I feel grateful every time I have the opportunity to offer reiki.  The reiki energy is complete love flowing from God, Creator, and/or Higher consciousness, through my hands and into my client.  As I give Reiki I also receive Reiki.  It is all love.  Reiki is always offered from a place of the highest good of all concerned.  The healing occurs whether on a physical, emotional or spiritual level regardless of the clients or practitioners state of being.  Reiki is pure light love and healing flowing from a higher source into the client.  It is a most calming, peaceful service to receive and offer.  It has been my experience that the more open the client is to receiving the more they will receive.  It is an experiential service.

Can Anyone Learn Reiki?
The ability to learn Reiki is not dependent on intellectual capacity, nor does one have to be able to meditate. It does not take years of practice. It is simply passed on from the teacher to the student. As soon as this happens, one has and can do Reiki. Because of this, it is easily learned by anyone.

How do you learn Reiki?

Through Reiki Attunements, this is open to anyone who has the desire to learn this wonderful ancient healing gift.  There are multiple levels Reiki I, II, III, Reiki Master/Teacher.  Reiki is not taught in the way other healing techniques are taught. It is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an attunement process. This process opens the crown, heart, and palm chakras and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source.  Once you have received a Reiki attunement, you will have Reiki for the remainder of your life. It does not wear off and you can never lose it.

Learn Reiki with Susie
Susie has been practicing reiki since 2001.  She did her Reiki I, II, III  attunements from 2001-2005 with Reiki Master/Teacher Nancy Retzlaff located here in Milwaukee, WI.  Susie has enjoyed having the opportunity to share reiki with many clients through her esthetics and wellness business, White Sage Spa.  In September of 2009 she felt the call to continue on and traveled back to one of her favorite places, Sedona, Arizona where she took the Reiki Master Teacher certification at the Infinite Light Healing Center.  She would be delighted to have you start or continue your reiki journey in any of her Reiki attunement classes call to inquire.
